Beyonce Receives 5 Grammy Nominations

The nominations for the 49th annual Grammy Awards were announced yesterday and Mary J. Blige, the Queen of Hip Hop, is on top with eight nominations. Close behind Blige are the Red Hot Chili Peppers with six nominations. Tied with five nominations are the Dixie Chicks, James Blunt, John Mayer, Danger Mouse, Prince, Rick Rubin, will.i.am and John Williams. At a press conference in Hollywood, the The Recording Academy also announced that Beyonce Bryan-Michael Cox, Gnarls Barkley, Israel Houghton, T.I, and Justin Timberlake each earned four nominations.

Best Female R&B Vocal Performance: Ring The Alarm
Best R&B Song: Deja Vu – Beyonce featuring Jay-Z
Best Contemporary R&B Album: B’Day
Best Rap/Sung Collaboration: Deja Vu – Beyonce featuring Jay-Z

The ceremony will be held at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on February 11 and will be broadcast on CBS.
