Pop beauty Beyonce Knowles has laughed off reports she accidentally flashed her breasts during a wardrobe malfunction in Canada last week, insisting she was wearing a flesh-colored bra. Video footage posted on the Internet of the singer’s recent performance in Toronto showed her top fly up to reveal a blur of flesh, prompting reports Knowles had flashed her chest. However, the singer insists she kept her modesty. Her publicist tells MTV, “She’s wearing a flesh-tone bra! Do you really think Beyonce would go onstage like that?”

Beyonce Knowles appeared to be the victim of a fashion foul-up during a Toronto concert the other night – but her rep says that the pop star came prepared. In a video apparently taken by a fan in the crowd, the singer, 25, had her top fly up while she was bouncing to the beat during an elaborate dance number. But it wasn’t a ‘flashing,’ says her publicist. ‘She’s wearing a flesh-tone bra! Do you really think Beyonce would go onstage like that?’ She adds that her mother, Tina Knowles, ‘is the quality-control officer’ on the pop star’s tour, ensuring that no wardrobe malfunctions occur onstage. The exposure lasted all of a split second, but the clip made the celeb blog and YouTube rounds – just like last month, when Knowles suffered a different kind of stage mishap and fell down a flight of stairs during an Orlando concert. She quickly recovered and completed her number nearly without missing a beat – before saying to the crowd good-naturedly, ‘Don’t put it on YouTube.’ Both times, the crowd failed to listen.

Justin Timberlake and Beyonce lead the pop parade of nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards with seven nods apiece. Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” was nominated for video of the year, as was Timberlake’s ambitiously cinematic “What Goes Around … Comes Around,” which co-starred Scarlett Johansson. Timberlake was also nominated for male artist of the year and “most earth shattering collaboration” for pairing with Timbaland for “Sexy Back.” Beyonce was nominated for female artist of the year and for her collaboration with Shakira on “Beautiful Liar.”

The 24th annual VMAs will be handed out during a live two-hour show on Sept. 9 in Las Vegas at the Palms Hotel and Casino.

American Express has announced that Beyonce Knowles will be their next celebrity rep. The credit card company has reportedly signed the singer/actress to a multi-million dollar ad campaign that will launch in late 2007. And she’s getting a jump start on her duties. Reportedly, the Destiny’s Child singer couldn’t wait to get things started, with a photo shoot and commercial taping already on her itinerary.


An industry insider told press, ‘She’s a role model for so many young people,’ says an insider. ‘She has tremendous cross-over appeal the same way Tiger does. She’s an inspiration for lots of people. She’s a great fit for American Express.’ Beyonce follows in the footsteps of Tiger Woods, Ellen DeGeneres, Robert DeNiro, Venus Williams, and Kate Winslet as she promotes American Express.
