Beyonce switches direction on new album

November 01, 2007 | Comments 13

Beyonce is planning to switch musical direction on her third solo album. The singer is reportedly prepared to ditch her usual heavy R’n'B for a more dancefloor-orientated LP. The former Destiny’s Child star has hired Brighton dance act Freemasons to work on some tracks for the record. Freemasons’ James Wiltshire told the Daily Star: ‘The album is going to be huge. It will rival anything the likes of Britney and Rihanna have done recently. Beyonce and her team can see where mistakes were made on the last album. It was very American, very R’n'B and stripped back. They want to go for a more international sound this time.’

James and bandmate Russell Small, both 32, got the call from Bey’s peeps after they did the official remixes of her hits Deja Vu and Beautiful Liar. James explained: ‘Her management have been in almost daily contact with us ever since. It is exciting getting to work on a new tune for her, as we get to be really creative.’ He added: ‘We were asked to do the remix of Britney’s Gimme More and to work on Donna Summer’s new album, but we put them both on hold to work with Beyonce. Normally big stars don’t take any notice of smaller acts like us. So her decision shows just where she is going with this album. Beyonce is very clever when it comes to promoting her music. She wants to hit as many audiences as possible.’

ilike beyonce but her tryin to sound like rihanna is wack…i liked her because she was different and could sing…and also she is 26…she should be singing songs with more substance and depth than rihanna who is still a teen..

  2. Elton says:

she’s not tryin to sound or feel like rihanna it adapts an international/dance like feel to that has recently been used by rihanna.
P.S. beyonce is deep without even tryin to

  11. No where in this article did it say that Beyonce is trying to sound like Rihanna and/or Britney. It is sad that some people aren’t able to comprehend clear English. Her music wis said to have a more dance feel that should reach audiences internatioanlly. I am not a ‘die hard’ Beyonce fan, but I do have all of her first two albums, and I must admit, that she is the #1 female artist right now. Good lusk with the new album B! Can’t wait to hear it.

  12. Doris says:

In a way I was dissappointed in her. I love her r&b style. A lot of people think she’s a sell out now, before I could listen to every track, but I think i will be skippin some…

  13. Jennifer says:

OK. First of all. There was Beyonce before there was a Rhianna. So if anything Rhianna trying to sound like Beyonce.
Second. I’m glad she is switching directions because this generation needs more to listen to in songs besides “shaking ya booty, getting money, and sex”. 2008 is the year for change and I feel this was a very smart move for her carrer. Having said that. I’m totally envious of the broad but come on people. Give credit where it’s due!
