Beyonce throws Jay-Z birthday bash

The hottest MC in the game only turns 40 once. So when it came to throwing a party for Jay-Z’s December 4th birthday, his wife, the equally hot Beyonce, rounded up their celebrity pals and jetted everyone off to the Dominican Republic for the bash, held last week.

Beyonce invited about 50 of Jay’s closest friends to celebrate his 40 years. Guests like Diddy, Kate Hudson, Alex Rodriguez, Kanye West and Alicia Keys all got together for the party held at the Casa de Campo resort on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic. According to The Sun, M.I.A. was also in attendance and partygoers were flown in on two private jets.

It was reported that guests had to use a secret password, “Bye, Bye Blackbird,” in order to get into the shindig, and had to leave cell phones at the door to ensure no photos were taken. iVillage reports that friends of the star recorded video messages for Jay that were played at the end of the night.

The party, which had a 1940s theme, included a fireworks display at midnight and a performance by synchronized swimmers. DJ Cassidy spun records at the bash held on two dance floors, while partygoers sipped vintage champagne.

Kanye West and Diddy took to the stage to perform for their pal. People says that Jay-Z and Keys performed their hit, “Empire State of Mind,” at the party, while West reportedly toasted his friend and “Run This Town” collaborator.
