Beyonce & Jay-Z to change names?
50 Cent recently joked that Jay-Z ought to be called Mr. Knowles, and it looks like he might be more right than he knew. Rumors have surfaced that Jay and Beyonce may change their last name to Carter-Knowles, a combination of their legal surnames.
The change comes in an effort to legally preserve the Knowles’ name, as the singer’s parents never had a son. Without the change, the Knowles would end with Beyonce’s generation.
“They’re keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don’t produce any children themselves. Or if they end up just having girls,” a source told Britain’s Sun.
The Knowles family also made recent headlines with news that Beyonce’s parents, Tina and Mathew, have filed for divorce. The couple claim that the split is an amicable one and will not turn into “an ugly, messy fight.”
