Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born September 4th, 1980 in Houston Texas. She began her career asthe front for the smash hit 90’s band Destiny’s Child and the group was a discovery of Whitney Houston. Her father Matthew is her manager and her mother helped design many of her stage costumes.
Destiny’s Child took a break during the early 2000s and Beyoncé took the opportunity to produce a solo album. The 2003 album release sold 11 million copies worldwide and won her 5 Grammy awards, establishing her as one of the top female artists of her generation. Subsequent albums sold even more and Beyoncé decided to branch out into acting, producing many critically acclaimed performances. Her 2008 album “I am… Sasha Fierce” won a record 6 Grammy awards which still holds today.
Beyoncé has sold over 160 million records as a solo artist and another 60 million with Destiny’s Child, making her one of the top selling artists of all time. She has been recognized as one of the world’s most influential people.
